If you have bulging veins on your hand, then you probably do not like the way they look. Hand veins starts to bulge because your skin thins and start to lose elasticity. There are different reasons why you may develop bulging hand veins, such as age, exercising, vascular disease and hot weather. Read on to find out how to treat this condition.
Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure for treating bulging veins. This procedure works by injecting sclerosant or salt water into your veins. Sclerosant is a chemical solution.
After injecting the solution, your vein will harden and disappear. Sclerotherapy can be done in an outpatient setting without anesthesia. It does not require a lot of downtime and you may have to wear compression gloves after the surgery.
Microphlebectmy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure. It only removes the large surface varicose veins. This procedure is done in an outpatient setting using local anesthetic.
To do a microphlebectomy, the surgical area is prepared. This is done by washing your hand and outlining the veins. Your abnormal veins are removed through a variety of small needle punctures.
Vein Ligation And Stripping
Vein stripping and litigation is a surgery used for removing large varicose veins. It is done by making an incision below your veins. A plastic tube is threaded through the incision to reach your vein and grasp it for removal. This procedure makes several incisions, but does not require you stay in the hospital. Vein litigating and stripping can also be used with other treatment options.
The elderly are not good candidates for this procedure. Surgery puts an older patient at risk for other harmful medical conditions. Vein litigation and stripping has a pretty good success rate. It prevents varicose veins from coming back in 90 out of 100 patients.
Endovenous Laser Treatment
Endovenous laser treatment is a minimally invasive procedure that uses radiofrequency technology. It is an image-guided procedure that uses a targeted laser to seal your vein shut. The laser energy destroys the wall of your vein. It causes your veins to shrink and prevents blood from flowing through it. This stops your veins from bulging because the blood is being diverted to your healthy veins.
If you notice a change in your hand veins, then you should see a doctor. You want to make sure this is not a sign of a serious health problem. Your doctor can help you choose the best treatment for your condition.Share
