When Your Vision Gets A Bit Blurry In The Evening

Have you noticed that your vision starts looking a bit blurry as it gets later in the day? If your vision is clear earlier on and only begins to wane in the evening, there are a few different issues that could be to blame. Here's a look.
Vitamin A Deficiency
There are certain cells in your eyes that are responsible for helping you see in dim light with the help of certain pigments. If you are deficient in vitamin A, these pigments may not be being made, so you may not be able to see as clearly in dim light. To determine if you're likely to be deficient in vitamin A, use a food tracking app to keep track of everything you eat for a few days, and see if you're meeting the RDA for vitamin A. If you're an adult man, you should shoot for 900 mcg per day, and if you're a female, the RDA is 700 mcg. If you find that you're not eating enough vitamin A, try incorporating more of these vitamin A-rich foods into your diet:
- Sweet potatoes
- Beef liver
- Carrots
- Spinach
- Mangoes
- Cantaloupe
Eye Dryness
Do your eyes feel a bit dry and scratchy? If so, this may be why you're not seeing clearly. Without a layer of lubrication over your corneas, your vision can easily become a bit blurred. In the short term, using some lubricating eye drops should moisten your eyes and preserve your vision through the evening. In the longer term, it's important to figure out why your eyes are dry. If you have allergies, taking an antihistamine and doing a better job of staying away from allergens may help. If you had laser eye surgery in the past, your eye dryness may be a side effect. Your eye doctor may recommend a medication to increase tear production.
Tired Eyes
Do the activities you do throughout the day tire your eyes out? If you're staring at a bright screen or doing intricate craftwork all day, it could just be that your eyes are very tired by the evening. Try making changes to make your day-to-day activities easier on your eyes. Turn the brightness down on your screen, take breaks every hour or so, and remember to blink more often when doing intricate work or computer work.
