Visiting A Med Spa To Treat Your Blackheads
Posted on: 17 June 2022
Blackheads can be difficult to deal with. There are all sorts of creams and patches that claim to remove blackheads. Sometimes they work temporarily, but the blackheads come right back. Other times, they may extract part of the blackhead, but not the whole thing. If you're tired of trying treatment after treatment but to no avail, a good next step is to visit a medical spa. They tend to have several blackhead treatments that are more effective than over-the-counter ones.
Chemical Peels
Blackheads happen when dead skin cells and other debris get caught in one of your pores. This widens the pore, which makes it easier for even more dirt and gunk to get caught in there. Then, the dirt and gunk oxidize and turn black. If you can stop the gunk from accumulating in your pores, then you'll have fewer blackheads. And that's how chemical peels work. Basically, the peel will remove the dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. This way, they won't end up in your pores, causing more blackheads. As such, chemical peels help get rid of current blackheads while also preventing more from developing in the coming weeks.
Laser Therapy
If you want something more intense than a chemical peel, talk to the med spa practitioner about laser treatments. There are a lot of different lasers that can be used in a medical spa. One type is basically designed to resurface the skin, unblocking pores and removing dead skin cells. This treatment can also help shrink your pores, which can prevent new blackheads.
Laser therapy does leave your skin red and sore for a few days afterward, but most people find these side effects tolerable and worth the blackhead relief they get to enjoy.
Electrical Blackhead Extraction
If you have any deep, large blackheads that do not respond well to a laser treatment or chemical peel, your med spa practitioner may want to extract those ones using an electrical extractor. Basically, this tool treats blackheads one at a time. It uses a combination of electricity and suction to remove the gunk from deep within your pore. This may sting a tiny bit, but it's quite safe.
You do not have to go on living with blackheads forever. If pharmacy-type treatments are not cutting it for you, then you may want to visit the local med spa for one or more of the professional treatments discussed here.
